In order to support the initiative of the Head of State on the implementation of cotton-textile clusters and the development of agriculture in the country, POSCO International Textile, which has been operating in the textile industry since 1996 in the production of cotton yarn and harsh fabric, expressed readiness to organize a cotton-textile cluster starting from the harvest of 2022-2023.
For the qualitative and timely implementation of this goal, the company's management has taken a number of measures and reached certain agreements with other organizations. In particular, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed with Tashkent State Agrarian University in the field of development of the scientific base, financial support for students and joint research work in the fields. The document assumes the involvement of the University's teaching staff in Research and Development Centers established in the regions where textile and cotton clusters will be organized by the company, as well as the involvement of students in industrial practice, with subsequent employment. In addition, on the basis of bilateral agreements, the company will provide financial assistance to talented students who are actively participating in the social life of the University, they will be selected on a competitive basis for the scholarship program which covers their tuition fees or special other scholarships.
On November 23rd, after an audit by specialized organizations, our company was able to obtain the first international GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certificates from textile enterprises in the Republic of Uzbekistan. GRS is a certification applied to the production of mixed yarn (Poly-Blended Yarn) containing 20% or more percent recycled polyester (RPSF), as part of yarn, fabric and final products.
This Certificate confirms processed raw materials, in compliance with social and environmental standards. RCS certification is a certification applied to blended yarns containing 5% or more recycled polyester, and a standard applied to confirm the content of recycled fiber in the product itself.
After applying for this certificate, the company carried out a number of works to improve and standardize the production process. In September of this year, the Control Union company, an accredited organization for auditing companies for compliance with the requirements of the GRS system, checked for compliance with the following criteria:
-
Environmental requirements
-
Health & Safety
-
Social requirements
-
Chemical management system
-
Chain of custody and Specific Requirements
and gave a positive feedback about the activities of our company.
Obtaining GRS and RCS certificates will allow expanding the geography of exports in the future. Recently, due to the expansion of the secondary raw materials textile market and the growing demands of commodity brands, GRS and RCS certificates have been used as a means of proving that safe secondary raw materials used in textile raw materials and clothing. In fact, global brands such as IKEA, H&M and ZARA have already received GRS certification and are striving to produce all products only from recycled materials by 2030.
